Tuition fees at UK universities
UK tuition is set differently for home and international students. For home students undergraduate fees are capped by government (in England the cap is £9,535 a year for 2025/26, and it rises with inflation; Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland set their own). International fees are set by each university, and no open dataset publishes them, so this page shows the annual tuition figures published in official UK course data and does not estimate an international fee. Always check your course page on the university’s own site.

What else you pay on top of tuition
- The Immigration Health Surcharge, paid with a Student visa application.
- The visa fee, shown on our student visa guide.
- Course-specific costs such as materials, field trips and placements.
- Living costs, which over a degree can match the tuition.
Why fees differ
Fees differ by nation, by level (undergraduate, master’s, doctorate), by subject (laboratory and clinical courses usually cost more), and, for international students, by university. Scotland’s degrees are typically four years rather than three, which changes the total cost.
Ways the total can come down
- University and external scholarships; we list only awards we have verified on the official source.
- A foundation-year or pathway course where it gives credit towards the degree.
- Studying in a lower-cost city.
Fees are as published in official course data and are indicative. Universities set fees per course and year; confirm the figure that applies to you before you commit.
